Drug Awareness

Liberation Center Liberia (LCL) has a school-based Youth Drug Awareness Program for Liberia’s student and youth population. In Liberia, we have seen that young people are being introduced to illicit drugs from an early age and many times through their interaction with their peers in their neighborhoods, and, most alarmingly, at their schools.

Under the direction of LCL’s Youth Director, Matthew Kerkula and LCL Team Member Paul Boayue, LCL has launched its Youth Drug Awareness Program. The goal of this program is to educate the youth of Liberia about the dangers of using drugs and show them the harmful effects of use which include addiction, injury and even death and to teach the youth the skills necessary to be able to identify harmful drugs and the tools to help them say “NO!” to the people that are introducing to them, these dangerous and harmful substances.

LCL believes that this program will help bring this problem of drug use and addiction to the attention of government officials, agencies, civil organizations, citizens and other religious, national and local Leaders to the possibility of joining the fight against illicit Drugs Abuse and Addiction among Liberia’s students and youths.
