The Vision: From Addiction to Discipleship
“Then the Lord answered me and said: ‘Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.’” —Habakkuk 2:2-3
Every movement of God begins with a vision.
Before there is a building, there is a blueprint.
Before there is a harvest, there is a seed.
Before there is a testimony, there is a moment where God speaks.
Liberation Center Liberia was born from a vision that God placed in the hearts of Pastor Sam Nunoo and Evangelist Michael Bowen—a vision to see the forgotten, addicted, and broken people of Liberia rescued, restored, and transformed through the power of Jesus Christ.
The vision of Liberation Center Liberia is simple:
To find people wherever addiction has taken them…
To enter the darkest places…
To bring them out of bondage…
To introduce them to Jesus Christ…
And to see them become new creations as His disciples and witnesses to the nations.
Just as Jesus did for us.
The Same Jesus Who Rescued Me
I know this vision is possible because I am living proof of the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
For 25 years, I was bound by drug addiction, brokenness, and a life that was destroying everything around me.
I lost my family.
I lost my freedom.
I lost myself.
But Jesus found me.
In a prison chapel, broken and empty, I surrendered everything to Him.
I cried out:
“Lord, if You save me, I will serve You the rest of the days of my life.”
That day, Jesus answered my prayer.
He delivered me.
He restored me.
He made me a new creation.
I traded my old life of addiction and destruction for a new life as a disciple and witness of Jesus Christ.
The same God who rescued me is the God who can rescue every Zogo in Liberia.
Raising an Army of Sons and Daughters of Thunder
The vision God has given us is not simply to remove people from addiction.
The vision is transformation.
We believe every Zogo has a God-given purpose.
Every person trapped in addiction has a destiny.
Every person living in darkness can become a carrier of the Light.
Our prayer and our vision is to see thousands of men and women in Liberia become fearless disciples of Jesus Christ.
A generation of believers who:
- Know the Word of God
- Operate in the authority of Jesus Christ
- Walk in the power of the Holy Spirit
- Share the Gospel boldly
- Serve their communities
- Restore their families
- Become leaders in the Kingdom of God
They will become the Sons and Daughters of Thunder.
The Disciples Who Rescue Others
The greatest part of this vision is that those who are rescued will become rescuers.
The men and women who once lived in the ghettos, cemeteries, and drug smokehouses will return with the love and power of Jesus Christ to help bring others out.
The rescued become the rescuers.
The delivered become deliverers.
The healed become healers.
The disciples become disciple-makers.
Until every person who desires freedom has the opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ.
Oh Dry Bones, Come Alive!
The prophet Ezekiel stood in a valley filled with dry bones.
To human eyes, there was no hope.
But God asked:
“Can these bones live?”
And the answer was yes.
Because what looks dead to man is not dead to God.
Liberia’s cemeteries may be filled with broken lives.
The ghettos may be filled with hopelessness.
The world may see people who cannot change.
But God sees an army waiting to rise.
We believe the day is coming when the places once known for addiction and death will become places known for salvation, worship, and transformation.
We believe the day is coming when the strongholds of addiction will fall.
We believe the day is coming when the places where people were once enslaved will become places where people are set free.
We believe the day is coming when the Pelham Building on Center Street, once known as a place of addiction and darkness, will be replaced by a place of worship, discipleship, healing, and restoration.
A Liberation Center.
A church.
A house of God’s presence.
The Prophetic Declaration
We believe God is raising up a generation of redeemed men and women in Liberia.
People who were once rejected will become leaders.
People who were once addicted will become disciples.
People who were once living among the tombs will become witnesses of resurrection life.
The Zogos of Liberia will become Sons and Daughters of Thunder.
They will rise in the power of the Holy Spirit.
They will take the Gospel into the darkest places.
They will reclaim what the enemy stole from them and their generations.
They will become a mighty army of believers declaring that Jesus Christ saves, heals, delivers, and restores.
The vision has been written.
The vision has been declared.
And in God’s appointed time…
It will come to pass.
From the Tombs to New Life.
