The Liberation Cup is a Football Tournament for the ghettos of Monrovia and surrounding areas. Each ghetto assembles a team to play in the annual tournament that is held the weekend before Decorations Day which we also refer to as Zogo Liberation Day which is the second Wednesday in March! The winner of the tournament is crowned Football King for the year and has a celebration party in their ghetto the day after the Championship Game where Liberation Center Liberia presents the Championship Trophy and feeds the entire ghetto and we have a Holy Ghost Party! Praise the Lord!
The Ghetto Teams will assemble each year on the opening day of the tournament and will have a Marching Parade through the Capital City Monrovia to the tournament field to begin play. This event is for the Zogos and Disadvantaged Youth of Liberia to inspire them to change through Jesus Christ and to become successful law-abiding Liberian citizens. To God be the Glory!
